A 30-year-old Kenyan national, Isaac Kalafa, has been arrested in Karonga after being found with a substantial quantity of illegal drugs.

According to  the arrest occurred yesterday at the Rukulu checkpoint, when officers conducted a routine search of a bus traveling from Lilongwe to Songwe.

During the search, officers discovered a large bag containing clothing. However, upon closer inspection, they found that the bag concealed 75 kilograms of illicit drugs, leading to immediate suspicion.

Upon questioning, Kalafa admitted ownership of the drugs and revealed additional concealed packages. The drugs, found to be in violation of the country’s laws, were seized, and Kalafa was arrested.

Kalafa is now facing charges for possession of illicit drugs, which is a serious offense under Malawi’s drug laws. He will appear in court to face the charges.
