Eurodam Scores 13th Straight Perfect Score on USPH Inspection

Holland America Line’s ship Eurodam has scored its 13th consecutive perfect score of 100 on the United States Public Health Inspection (USPH) conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is the third perfect score for the Eurodam in 2017 and continues its six-year run of perfect scores.

The cruise ship’s unannounced USPH inspection took place on December 3, 2017 during a turnaround at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the start of a seven-day Caribbean cruise.

This score of 100 follows sister ships Koningsdam and Oosterdam receiving perfect scores on their inspection in March of 2017. Over the past four years, Holland America Line vessels have received a perfect score more than 22 times.

CDC inspections are part of the Vessel Sanitation Program, which was introduced in the early 1970s. The unannounced inspection is carried out by officials from the USPH twice a year for every cruise ship, and it is required for all passenger ships that call at a U.S. port.

The score of the inspection is assigned based on a checklist involving multiple areas of assessment under the categories of hygiene, sanitation of food, overall galley cleanliness, water, shipboard personnel, and the ship as a whole.

Holland America Line, a division of Carnival Corporation, owns a fleet of 14 ships that offer 500 cruises to more than 400 ports in 98 countries and territories around the world, including the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, New England, and Europe.
