Preview: No. 17 Michigan State looks to push past No. 9 Maryland

Who: No. 17 Michigan State (12-4, 2-3 Big Ten) and No. 9 Maryland (15-1, 4-1 Big Ten)

When: Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.

Where: Breslin Student Event Center, East Lansing

TV: Big Ten Network

The Spartans went up six spots in this week’s AP polls, and Shay Colley got her second career double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in a losing effort against the unranked Buckeyes on Monday night. 

The Terrapins will be one of the Spartans' biggest matchups this season. 

The Spartans are led by senior center Jenna Allen, shooting 55.1 percent from the field (11 points against OSU) and Taryn McCutcheon shooting 42.4 percent from behind the arch (10 points against OSU). 

The Terrapins are led by junior forward Stephanie Jones, shooting 61.1 percent from the field (13 points against Mich.) and freshman guard Taylor Mikesell, shooting 42 percent from behind the arch (17 points against Mich.) 

The Spartans' starting line-up will consist of Allen, McCutcheon, freshman guard Nia Clouden, redshirt junior forward Victoria Gaines and most likely redshirt junior guard Shay Colley. 

Maryland’s starters will be made up of Jones, Mikesell, junior guard Kaila Charles and most likely junior guard Blair Watson and freshman forward Shakira Austin.
